NaNoWriMo 2022

Just to make it immediately clear what NaNoWriMo stands for.

It’s a mad contest, happening in November, where people attempt to write an entire story of at least 50,000 words. This means an average of 1,667 words per day.

It may not sound like much, but sit down, fire up your Word, LibreOffice, Google Docs, Pages, Wordstar or whatever other exotic word processor is your favourite (and how many of you smile when you see Wordstar?), and write 1667 random words. Just for fun. To get a feeling of how many words go into that number.

Superheroes

Now to the reason why I suddenly ramble on about November, because that’s still so far away.

I have the intention of joining Nanowrimo again this year. I skipped last year, because I had too many other stories going on. This year, however, I feel I can do this with a sequel to “Superheroes. no Capes, no nothing“.

There are several reasons for coming up with this. First of all: the enthused reactions of readers. I’m blown away and very proud that I could reach so many people with this story. Also the cover (really) is one of my favourites. The help of Linda and Wouter in this was amazing, and I can’t thank them enough for this.

Then there is the rather open end to the story. I wanted to leave it like that. If the book wouldn’t be received well, that would be it. Otherwise, there would be space for a follow-up book.

And that is where we stand now.

I have a bunch of ideas for the new story already and I’ll collect and shape those into somewhat of a logical order, so the start is where it begins and the end is also in the right place.

Until that all comes into being, I’ll be busy with getting another book out, which might well be the first naturist steampunk book in the world!

More about that in a later episode though. Thank you for reading all the way to this point, and have a great Monday, as naked as you can!
